So my wife has a coffee every day at a local restaurant (I can’t say where cos they’re friends, well family really) and she asked me today why the taste varied so much from day to day. The answer is too complicated to fathom as it depends on temperature, grind size, freshness of the beans, water temperature, maintenance of the equipment and the phases of the moon. The one thing I did say though was that using easy serving espresso coffee pods would allow a restaurant or cafe, that didn’t warrant the investment in a full-time barista, or that had enough custom to ensure totally fresh beans each day, a reliable and consistent product. Each one is individually wrapped so they stay fresh until opened, and the portion control is perfectly consistent. Then all you have to worry about is the right water temperature, pressure and the moon phase.
