I have been looking into the major makes of machines that can be used with ese coffee pods just to see which are the famous manufacturers. Now this list isn’t exhaustive, and it will be added to supplemented and edited over time but these are the biggest names I found. If you have an ESE pod friendly espresso machine by a manufacturer I have not listed please write a comment and I’ll feature them at a later date.
Let’s start with the Daddy. Illy invented ESE pods so they were the first to bring out machines designed to accommodate the pods and loose coffee. The Francis Francis range are iconic and desirably functional, so hats off to Illy !
Sometimes I think Delonghi make so many espresso machine variants that you never come across the same one twice. There is always some colour variance or different finish on the case. They all seem to function well though and socongratulations to Delonghi as they always have the ESE logo printed on their machines.
They make robust and stylish toasters so why not Espresso machines as well? Kudos to Dualit for these ese compatible coffee machines.
Gaggia make so many machines that it is difficult to narrow down the images to just one. I chose this one because it is classic Gaggia, who have been making espresso machines for over 60 years. It is a little known fact that they are actually a part of Saeco which in turn is owned by Dutch giant Philips.
That’s it for today, I’ll be hunting around for more ESE compatible machines soon.
There are thousands of people out there drinking espresso coffee and espresso based coffee using a typical espresso machine made by Illy or Delonghi, and still you use coffee beans or ground espresso coffee. Why? Did you know that there is a brilliant alternative to espresso coffee beans and ground espresso? The alternatives are in the form of little coffee pods – not coffee capsules, we’re not talking Nespresso capsules here – I am talkning to all you who have the classic espresso machine – like the one in the pictures..
The E.S.E. Espresso pod is the perfect amount of espresso in one package. What’s more, it’s fresh every time you want one. The pods are sealed within one hour of the roasting and grinding process. The shelf life is 18 months – so you do not have to throw away coffee or keep it the freezer. Just serve yourself a fresh coffee each time you want one.
They are a little like tea bags to look at – but the main point about these beautifully crafted little pods is that there is no mess, no waste and no fuss. Just drop the pod into the group and handle and away you go!. No getting the beans out of the freezer, then pouring into the coffee grinder, grinding to the correct grind, measuring and tamping and then the cleaning up afterwards – why the take-up of coffee pods has been slow is a mystery?
