I have been using a Nespresso coffee machine along with my ese coffee machine to do some testing. Now I do like the nespresso coffee pods, and they make a good cup of coffee. But I just tried a pod as an espresso shot – and was very disappointed. The Aromo coffee pod is so much nicer – more flavour and character with a smooth taste. Even the Bounce is better. So for all you espresso coffee lovers out there, try the aromo E.S.E. Coffee pods – you can get your hands on a mixed case from the website: www.aromocoffee.co.uk

Off to a concert with all the aromo team tonight – to raise money for the local football club in Broadway, Cotswolds. UK! – I am sure that we will all have a lot to drink, but will also all end up back at the monkeys house making a fine brew of ese espresso coffee to make sure that we are up bright and early for our sunday morning mountain bike ride.

Yes £15.50 for a glass of wine! I know I still can’t believe it.

Well believe it or not last weekend we went for a meal with friends who were staying at Lower Slaughter Manor in the Cotswolds. We had a nice meal at Washbourne Court and then retired back for a drink at the hotel they were staying – 2 teas and 2 wines please – just a normal Sauvignon Blanc. We only had a total of 2 galsses. Anyhow this week I met up with my friend and he showed me the bill just for a laugh. Bugger me – it was £15.50 per glass of wine! and £5 for a cup of tea – now I don’ t mind paying for quality 0 Lower Slaughter Manor is a very nice hotel – and the decor is beautiful. The wine waiter was nice – but come on! – £14.50 for a small glass – I could have bought a bottle for the price of two glasses. Any how – I called them up today and complained – they said they would refund some of the money, but the wine we ordered was an expensive wine – so why didn’t they show us a wine list then? When you go in for a nightcap at 10pm and say can I have a glass of wine, you assume they will get a house wine – well apparantly not here. I had to drink 2 shots of double espresso this morning just to get over this amazing bill.

Now I know wine can be expensive:

Well this is true – and you can pay a lot for wine, especially when you are staying at a Hotel – but this does not apply to any hot beverages – take espresso coffee for example – 26pence for a shot of espresso coffee – you might pay £3 in a cafe or hotel – but it’s worth it – so why is wine go god damn expensive? It starts to get me thinking about the value of drink – after all we are only renting it!

Conclusion – If you want a nice hotel then Lower Slaughter is great, but be careful – make sure you know what you are drinking – and perhaps even play safe and order a nice cup of espresso coffee instead.

Ooohh there is nothing quite like a sunny day here in the Cotswolds drinking an easy serving espresso and looking outside at the cotswold stone buildings and landscape. Broadway looks beautiful at this time of year, and it’s time to get our your winter clothers, and don a jacket for a greta autumn walk with the family.
