Steamed Coffees? What are they and how do they affect my beautiful espresso?

Put simply steamed coffee is green coffee beans which are treated or washed with saturated steam under pressure (1 > 3 bar) and withan increased humidity level of 6 > 12 % over the course of approximately 1 hour

Most commonly it is the Lendrich system used here in Europe, which was originally patented in 1933

Steamed coffees are more easily digestible those with sensitive stomachs… and so such products are often marketed as ‘stomach friendly’ in the Continental European market- being particularly popular in Germany

Steaming supposedly removes irritants (other than the caffeine you’ll be pleased to hear!) which may cause, or exacerbate stomach ache, heart burn and acid indigestion

Various reports – such as Albanese 1964 and Rahn 1979 – have concluded that there is a genuine change in the chemistry of steamed coffee with reductions in:

Tannin (24%)

Chlorogenic Acid (3%)

Mercaptomethane (11%)

Mannans (6%)

Pyrocatechol (25%)

As well as Pyridine and Furfurol (12 > 82 mg / kilo Mohr and Wichman 1987)

Incidentally- it is not only arabica which are steamed…more commonly – steaming is used in the soluble or instant coffee industry to improve Robusta coffees… that means that as a consumer you get a cheaper product which tastes ok!

Never knew coffee was such a chemistry lesson did you?

But that’s what makes it so very special and what makes the art of the roaster so very important….

Get it wrong at the roasting stage and this can lead to, in effect, a chemical imbalance in the roast which adversely affects the flavour and aroma of your beautiful cup of espresso or coffee– leave the technical stuff to us and rest assured you are getting the finest  ESE espresso pods available anywhere! 🙂

So why is blogging about ESE espresso coffee pods not working, or is it?

Ok, earlier in the blog I looked and talked about blogging and how to blog about a subject – in our case it’s 44mm E.S.E. easy single serving espresso pods in the UK. Now the point of that article was to get people and google to come to our blog to read about espresso coffee pods, and then click on the link to the aromo espresso coffee pods website. In this article I am going to put as many words that refer to our espresso coffee website as possible to see what effect it has on the blog stats and also the traffic to the aromo coffee espresso pods website.

You may also recall that in the original blog about espresso coffee pod blogging I talked about what words people would look up, Fiona Bruce Naked seemed to be a good example, and I was not sure that it was going to work, but I am amazed at how many people search for the keywords Fiona Bruce Naked – when the blog is about easy serving espresso coffee pods UK ..!! SO we are going to try a little experiment here too – I think there are a few more people that will be higher up the rankings than Fiona Bruce – say Nicole Kidman, christina aguilera, natasha kaplinsky, and if I put there names with the word naked… so espresso coffee pods UK would become Nicole Kidman naked -or we could even have Kylie Minogue Naked, natasha kaplinsky naked, Kate Winslet nude, or the very sexy only way is essex girls Sam and Billie Faiers nude and naked together?  or Danni Minogue naked to see what happens. But this blog is not about naked girls or naked celebrities – it’s about great tasting, fresh, pure E.S.E easy serving espresso coffee delivered to your door in the UK.

Naked girls always get seen on a website – but can they help your coffee blog?

We have 4 different blends of ESE espresso coffee, and we sell to the individual with an espresso machine that is able to take a 44mm ESE espresso coffee pod, or we can also sell to the trade. Our 44mm ese espresso coffee pods will fit most machines, but they will NOT fit into a Nespresso coffee capsule machine or Senseo coffee machine – only the espresso coffee machines that either have the E.S.E logo on it, or ones with a group handle – most espresso coffee machines can take our 44mm espressso coffee pods.

So this article has been written to see what effect it has on the espresso coffee pod blog, or the aromo espresso coffee pod UK website, and if words like naked girls or naked women effect what happens. I will be amazed, but thought that this might be an interesting thought to put down in a coffee blog. I am sure that all of you that visit this espresso coffee blog website drink coffee- So why don’t you try some of our 44mm ESE espresso coffee pods? They are the freshest, purest and best espresso coffee pods in the UK

This is an interesting question – how many machines do you think there are – 50 million? 500 million? a billion? and of these machines how many are able to be used with the beter ESE easy serving (single serving) espresso coffee pod? Just think if every one decided to use the ESE 44mm coffee pods instead of coffee beans or ground coffee in packets, there would be millions or thousands of tinnes of wastage of coffee removed from the planet. thousands more people would enjoy a fresher cup of coffee, and this in turn would make thousands of people more happy. It might even stop someone having an argument – how good would that be.

Want to start a campaign: How many tonnes of Coffee could be saved by using ESE 44mm coffee pods?

So we need to start a couple of campaigns here. First we need to try and establish just how many coffee machines there are on the planet. Once we know that we then need to evaluate these figures and find out how many of those espresso coffee machines can take E.S.E 44mm coffee pods and then we need to work out how much coffee is consumed and we can then work out how much coffee is wasted by using the ground coffee and bean coffee as opposed to using E.S.E 44mm espreso coffee pods which you can by from aromo coffee online.

This is what Wikipedia has to say about Espresso:

Espresso is made by forcing very hot water under high pressure through finely ground, compacted coffee. This process produces an almost syrupy beverage by extracting both solid and dissolved components. It also produces the definitive crema,by emulsifying the oils in the ground coffee into a colloid, which does not occur in other brewing methods. There is no universal standard defining the process of extracting espresso, but there are several published definitions which attempt to place constraints on the amount and type of ground coffee used, the temperature and pressure of the water, and the rate of extraction. Generally, one uses an espresso machine to make espresso. The act of producing a shot of espresso is often termed “pulling” a shot, originating from lever espresso machines, which require pulling down a handle attached to a spring-loaded piston, forcing hot water through the coffee at high pressure. Today, however, it is more common for the pressure to be generated by an electric pump.

I have taken this as a direct quote and placed into our blog. (I have added this a quote for espresso coffee by using the quote button in wordpress – just to be clear!)

Don’t you just love coffee pods? Especially espresso coffee pods. I have just taken delivery of my second batch of nespresso coffee capsules (not quite the same thing as an ESE coffee pod) and they are really great little packages of coffee delight. My favourite on has to be the purple espresso coffee capsule which is called Arpeggio. This is one of the stronger espresso blends that nespresso produces. So do I like it because of the coffee or the colour? It certainly is intense and creamy as it says in the brochure. I also like the Roma, Ristretto and Carpriccio: alll very good espresso coffees

This picture shows my new milk frothing jug I bought in Rome this summer. Previously I had made do with a pottery jug but there has to be a reason why the pros use stainless steel ones and I’m told it is so that you can detect more easily when the milk is hot. So I now place a finger on the outside of the jug when making capacinnos and when it gets too hot to touch I know it is ready. I’m using aromo coffee pods to avoid mess too.
