I make beer from scratch (ie from malted barley grain) with Henry, a friend. He came around tonight to sample our latest batch, and he was really disappointed because it hadn’t cleared as he had expected. It tasted OK but it didn’t have that glow when light passes through it. There was much gnashing of teeth and cursing, and the blame aimed at the finings and remorse over leaving out the Irish moss etc etc.
So I made a coffee pod espresso and popped it into the pint, just to see what happened. I am not kidding you, when I say it did nothing for the clarity, but it tasted delicious. Seriously delicious. I’m going to add coffee, in some form, in the next brew. How? No idea yet. Your suggestions are welcome.
