Lonely Hard Road

The incompetency of the 2007  > 09 Colombian renovation program is still playing havoc with the Colombian coffee trade.

The 2012 harvest was 8 m bags and many pundits fear 2013 will struggle to exceed 8.5 m bags

This from a recent historical high of c 13 m bags!

Combine this with a strong Peso which gained almost 10% last year and you have a prefect storm – one which has created a trade which is now hurting!

Why? Well simply because they earn in US dollars but pay all costs in local Pesos.

Colombia’s agriculture minister recently urged the Central Bank to help slow the currency appreciation… Brings to mind Canute! Instead- Perhaps he should also knock some trade heads together to understand how the replanting debacle was ever allowed to happen in the first place!

We at Aromo are not happy that the god given gift of wonderful Colombian original coffees has been constrained and diverted by the short sited and incompetent actions of local bureaucrats in the FNC! So there!

Guru writes for Aromo Coffee – They are coffee experts focussed on providing convenient and tasty ways for the caffeine addict to take their medicine. Aromo supplies excellent ESE Coffee pods and superlative Senseo pods,  both of which offer the espresso and filter connoisseur  a no mess, no fuss,  super fresh and environmentally conscious method to make stunning coffee… the guys at Aromo also have a range of Dualit branded capsules which make a brilliant and economic alternative to nespresso capsules
